Depression can drain your energy, leaving you feeling empty and fatigued. 

However, there are small steps you can take to help you feel more in control and

 improve your overall mental health. 

I have listed some of the things, which I did to overcome my anxiety & depression. I hope that you will also benefit from them & always remember you are never alone :)



so without any further a do here are the Top 10 things you should do -


1. Meet Yourself First Depression is common. It affects millions of people, including some in our life. You may not realize they face similar challenges, emotions, and obstacles. Every day with this disorder is different. It is important to take your mental health seriously and accept that where you are right now is not where you will always be. The first step to overcome depression is to be open, accepting, and loving towards yourself and what you are going through.  Self-analysis is the best!

2. Today is not indicative of Tomorrow Today’s mood, emotions, or thoughts do not belong to tomorrow. If you were unsuccessful at getting out of bed or accomplishing your goals today; remember that, you have not lost tomorrow’s opportunity to try again. Give yourself time without being guilty to accept that while some days will be difficult, some days will also be great. Try to look forward to tomorrow’s fresh start.

3. Do something you enjoy...

Develop a Hobby or try to pursue it, if you already have one!  Do something you love — something that is relaxing, but energizing. It could be anything you enjoy & which makes you stress free… for instance reading, painting, cooking, gardening, dancing, working out or just taking a walk.These activities can provide lifts in your mood and energy, which may help you overcome your symptoms. 

4. Write a Diary

Depression can be heavy with constant negative emotions. You may find yourself focusing on the one thing that went wrong instead of the many things that went right. Try to stop this. Push yourself towards recognizing the good that happened. If it helps, try to develop a habit of maintaining a Diary, write down all the good things that happened to you, what was the happy moment about that event or day. I am sure there would be a bunch of GOOD things you would write down thus bringing more good thoughts & positivity.

5. Set your goals or maybe a To Do List

Do not try to make an overall to do list for the week/month or set goals for this year. Make it for a day... What I want to achieve today or in the coming 2 days. When you have done a small thing, set your eyes on another small thing, and then another. This way, you have a list of clear accomplishments and not an untouched to-do list. 

6. Reward Yourself

Do not be harsh on yourself; give yourself some time! All goals are worthy of recognition, and all successes are worthy of celebration. When you achieve a goal, do your best to recognize it. You may not feel like celebrating with a cake and wine, but recognizing your own successes can be a very powerful weapon against depression. The memory of a job well done may be especially powerful & do not forget to note that down in your diary of good things!

7. Plan your Routine

If Depression disrupts your daily routine, set a manageable one. You will feel more in control. Of-course you don’t have to write a total time wise scheduled routine; but at least a guideline to what you are going to do in a day or maybe tomorrow. You can create a routine for a day or two or maybe even a week depending on your lifestyle. Focus on creating a loose, but structured, routine that can help you keep your daily pace going.

8. Listen to music… more often

Music can be a great way to boost your mood and improve symptoms of depression. It may also help have more of positive emotions. Just sit back & relax listening to your favorite artists songs. You could also listen to various relaxing & meditation music available online for free.

9. Family Time

Depression tends you to isolate yourself and withdraw from your friends and family, but face-to-face time can help in a great way. If you are unable to spend time together in person, phone calls or video chats can also be helpful.  Try to remind yourself these people care about you. Resist the temptation to feel like you are a burden.  You need the interaction — and they likely do, too.

10. SLEEP

Sleep disturbances are common with depression. You may not sleep well, or you may sleep too much. Both can make depression symptoms worse.  Aim for seven - eight hours of sleep per night. Try to get into a healthy sleep routine. Monitor your sleep adjusting with your routine. Going to bed and waking up at the same time, every day can help you with your daily schedule. Getting the proper amount of sleep may also help you feel more balanced and energized throughout your day.

Small steps, Big impact!

So this was all I inculcated in my life to overcome the anxiety & depression! 

I am a common person just as you are... I am no trained expert to suggest you treatment; but these surely work as it worked on me. However, it also depends on the level of your depression & more over your will power. You can at least try to incorporate these things in your life, as there is no side effect. You may also seek Professional help in regards to what you are going through. 

A general practitioner may be able to refer you to a therapist or other specialist.
