10 Monsoon Skin care Tips for Men & Women.

Everyone likes to look good & be presentable. Skincare is just not limited to women anymore. Many men may not be much open about it but everyone does something to care about their skin.

As the monsoon hits the city just like bad roads with potholes, waterlogging and many other issues our skin also faces various concerns. At times, it can be irritating to suddenly get pimples & over the oily face. On top of it if you have, oily skin like mine it gets even worse!

So considering, the monsoon has hit Mumbai I am here to help you with some of the basic skincare tips you can follow & include in your routine all year round.

To be honest there is no 1-skin care routine that will work for all. It majorly depends on your skin type, hormones, diet & many other factors.

I will provide you a normal routine & 10 tips that can be helpful to combat the issues & have a good healthy version of your skin.

***There is no gender-specific product as such; it works best for both Men & Women.

1. Cleanse Your Skin:

Skin tends to become greasy and oily during monsoon. So, it becomes important to cleanse your skin thoroughly at least twice a day. Make sure you use the best quality cleanser that goes deep in your skin and removes excess oil, dirt, and make-up (if you wear any) Any product residue is highly responsible for skin issues like clogged pores, blackheads, whiteheads & bacterial growth.

2. Use Toner:

Some face cleansers can leave your face dehydrated messing with the PH levels of your face. Skin toners act to regulate the PH levels & close the pores leaving your face hydrated and nourishing your skin. It also minimizes the appearance of pores and can give a clean revitalized look to your skin. Always use a good non-alcoholic toner to maintain the PH level of the skin.

3. Moisturize your skin:

Wait, you must be thinking why moisturize when your skin already feels oily and greasy during monsoon? But you need to moisturize as your skin becomes dry due to the presence of humidity in the air. Use a good lightweight moisturizer which won’t feel heavy but make your skin soft, supple, and moist while keeping oil secretion in control.

This one is my personal favorite; I have been using it for quite some time now & it's the best moisturizer I have come across.

4. DIY Face Packs:

When it comes to taking the best care of your facial skin during monsoon, simple homemade face packs can give your skin a healthy boost.

In this, I would not suggest any ready-made face packs; instead #DIY.

DIY face packs

1. Besan + pinch of Haldi + Rose Water (you can use regular water if not rose water)

2. Multani Mitti + pinch of Haldi + Honey

3. Rice flour + Besan + pinch of Haldi + Water

4. Maida + Wheat flour + Aloe vera gel + Water

***the proportions & consistency depends on the area you want to apply it on; this paste can be used on the face as well as the whole body.

Regular application of these DIY masks will give you flawless skin. You can do it once a week.

5. Sunscreen:

Sunscreen !!! yes, it is the most important product that tops the list. It is that one skincare product that is a must for every season. Sun rays don’t spare your skin even in monsoon & even if you are indoors. Everyone, irrespective of dry, oily, or sensitive skin, needs to apply sunscreen every single day. Therefore, skipping it is certainly not a good choice especially if your work requires you to stay outdoor for long hours. Use a reliable sunscreen with good SPF to protect your skin from the harsh UV rays of the sun.

Obviously, you will also need to apply sunscreen on exposed parts like hands/ feet/arms/shoulders; hence a body sunscreen lotion is a must.

6. Hydrate:

Staying in Mumbai we sweat the whole year-round. Monsoon causes an increase in humidity & we tend to sweat a lot thus leaving our body dehydrated. Hence we should drink enough water daily to keep our skin hydrated. Drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water daily to flush out the toxins & proper maintenance of your organs. 7. Don’t forget the Lips:

Many of us don’t really pay attention when it comes to caring for lips. They are the most neglected part. Moisturizing just the face & neck doesn’t finish the job. You need to do it for your lips too. Always use a good quality lip balm with SPF or if not that you can use any petroleum jelly.

8. Exfoliate your skin:

Clogged pores, blackheads, and whiteheads are quite a common problem during monsoon. Due to humidity, your skin becomes greasy which attracts lots of dust, pollution, dirt, and bacteria. Hence it becomes necessary to exfoliate your skin regularly to shed off dead skin cells. Exfoliate your skin with a gentle scrub once a week. Here you can go for a DIY mask or even buy a ready-made scrub.

9. Diet:

Whatever you eat reflects on your skin & body. Try to maintain a healthy diet to have healthy skin. Small changes in your diet can have a great impact on your overall looks right from the skin to your body. Try to include fruits rich in Vitamin C on a daily basis in your diet. They need not be expensive like imported valencia oranges but you can get Vit C from Lemons too which is a great source. 10. SLEEP:

I cannot stop emphasizing it!

Sleep is the most important thing you need to have in order for other things to work. Sleep not only helps your skin to heal & repair the cells but also removes fatigue & tiredness.
